When Xavier Myles first saw the dance moves and uniforms of Earth’s Natural Force (ENF) Rangers, during an environmental program last year, the 7-year-old Northeast resident could hardly contain himself. Xavier’s mother said her son was so concerned about environmental abuses that he had single-handedly convinced the family to adopt recycling and neighborhood clean-up activities at home and in local parks.
“ENF Rangers made him feel right at home for loving the environment and wanting to preserve the wonderful greenery around our city,” Elaine Myles, Xavier’s mother told the Informer. “It is important to have environmentally-conscious young kids, especially African Americans, from your neighborhood, working towards a shared goal, especially when so many environmental issues disproportionately impact people of color.”
Myles’ enthusiasm demonstrates the power and reach of ENF’s mission to teach youth at very young ages and encourage them to take responsibility for the care and protection of the environment.
Raina Coleman, an ENF Ranger, has been with the organization since 2013. Now a freshman in high school, Coleman plays on the girls basketball team, is a visual artist, and a talented performer with the Rangers.
“Being an ENF Ranger helped me learn more about the environment and why it’s important to do things now before it’s too late,” Coleman said. “I have asthma and allergies and so I think we do a good job of teaching kids that the Earth wasn’t always like this and it’s up to us kids to take care of it now so there won’t be any more children being born with asthma and allergies.”
Coleman said that kids have the power to change the world, and with the right tools, they will be become the next line of defense against negative environmental changes.

“I love performing in front of little kids because it’s really, cool to see them dancing along to our songs,” Coleman told The Informer. “We practice for weeks just for an hour-long show. It’s fun, but a lot of work. I’ve been performing with the Rangers since I was eight and believe it makes a tremendous impact on other young people.”
ENF encourages youth to stop littering, recycle trash and offers them an alternative way of looking at the world around them. They become, in essence, protectors and defenders of the natural world around them and what they call, their fellow “Earth-Mates.”
“We really want to impress upon schools and family participants the importance of doing their small part to save the planet – as small efforts turn into large movements,” ENF Founder and CEO, Allen C. Burriss said. “We’ve incorporated fun, games, and environmental displays and presentations into the day and we are sure it will have a phenomenal impact on attendees. We want our young people to understand they can be a force for good and they have the power to save the planet by being responsible citizens of the Earth.”
The mission of Earth’s Natural Force is to reach and teach our youth, at a very young age, about their responsibility to care for and protect the environment. Our goal is to heighten the consciousness of young people to take care of their neighborhoods, schools and communities.
We will accomplish the above objectives, by encouraging our youth to stop littering, recycle trash and give them a clear understanding of how their positive actions can maintain and even improve their communities. We will also teach them how these good practices can positively affect their health and that of their fellow “Earth-Mates”. It is clear that our youth are the next line of defense against negative environmental changes, therefore, it is our goal to teach young people between the ages of 5-12, step-by-step approaches to maintaining clean neighborhoods, promoting clean air and water, and sharing the principles of collective participation with their schoolmates, friends and family.
We want our young people to understand, they can be a force for good and they have the power to save the planet by being responsible citizens of the Earth. They are “Earth’s Natural Force!"Earth's Natural Force is dedicated to ensuring our youth are given every opportunity to thrive in their neighborhoods and communities; develop good habits that will help them maintain healthy bodies and minds and show them how their actions – or lack thereof – can positively or negatively affect their environment and those who share it with them.

A Message From Our CEO, Allen Burriss
Created in 2009, Earth’s Natural Force Kids’ Jam is a performing arts troupe that uses entertainment to promote environmental awareness among today’s youth. Founded by DC Businessman Allen Burriss,
ENF Kids’ Jam is unique in its mission because its leadership and talent come from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Their efforts to promote environmental awareness go beyond the music. ENF Kids' Jam uses their time constructively to make a positive impact on children and families who listen to their message.
"We are excited to be involved with Earth Week and perform during the Earth Day Network’s opening event,” said Allen Burriss, CEO of Earth's Natural Force. “The Earth Day events will bring together our youth, our families and community leaders in support of this critical global movement."
Earth's Natural Force intends to reach and teach youth, ages 5-12, about their responsibility to care for and protect the environment. Environment pertains to three (3) components: physical, social and community. As warriors for health, Earth's Natural Force will champion the cause for healthier choices along life's journey.
At Earth's Natural Force we believe it is everyone's responsibility to prepare our youth to fulfill their dreams and live successful, productive lives. ENF Rangers are young “Protectors of the Earth” who volunteer by enrolling in community based activities, designed to help keep our neighborhoods clean.
Thank you for supporting Earth's Natural Force, as we teach our children to treat themselves and others with respect, to appreciate the value of education, and to care for our beloved Earth.
Together, We Can Make A Difference
How did ENF Kids' Jam get started?
Earth’s Natural Force was established by DC businessman, Allen Burriss. Created in 2009, ENF Kids' Jam is a group of talented multicultural youth who sing, dance and perform about environmental awareness. The ENF Kids’ Jam message is a direct response to the negative behavior, lack of respect, and the apathetic attitudes toward local neighborhoods and the environment that many of our children have. ENF Kids’ Jam is meant to be a positive influence on today’s youth.Uplifting music with a message encourages our families and teaches our children that they have an obligation to care for themselves and to protect our environment. As ‘Protectors of the Earth' the mission of ENF Kids' Jam is to educate youth about their responsibility to our Earth.
There are other youth environmental groups such as YES World and SEAC. What makes ENF Kids' Jam different?
While ENF Kids’ Jam recognizes the contributions made by other youth environmental groups, we also believe that we fill a unique niche in the green movement because of our diversity and performance ability. ENF Kids' Jam aim is to engage and empower youth from all backgrounds by teaching them the importance of caring for our planet. The talented performers in ENF Kids' Jam sing, dance and act to inspire children, families and community leaders alike to take steps to protect our environment. With a focus on recycling, energy reduction and preservation, ENF Kids' Jam is unique in its approach- using entertainment to promote advocacy and action.
Speaking of diversity, what demographics are represented in ENF Kids' Jam?
ENF Kids' Jam brings together children ages 6-17 from local communities in the Washington Metropolitan area. ENF Kids' Jam prides itself on recruiting talent from all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds. Furthermore, the music and message resonates with diverse audiences because ENF Kids' Jam incorporates lyrics in Spanish, French, Japanese and Filipino.
